Senior Software Engineer

Syndicus NACON is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex software capabilities for computer-based systems. You will collaborate closely with a team of skilled engineers to deliver innovative, high-quality software solutions for our clients.

This position offers the opportunity to work with modern tools and technologies while contributing to mission-critical projects. The role operates in a hybrid environment, with an average of two days per week spent on the customer site in San Antonio, TX.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop Java-based software capabilities for enterprise systems
• Build and maintain enterprise APIs and RESTful web services
• Develop applications using microservices architecture and object-oriented programming principles
• Participate in agile software development lifecycle activities
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
• Work collaboratively within a fast-paced engineering team environment
• Utilize Linux operating systems and configuration management tools such as Git, Maven, and Nexus

Minimum Qualifications:
• Active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI (U.S. Citizenship required)
• 9+ years of experience in software engineering with modern Java frameworks (e.g., Spring, Guava) and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or equivalent experience
• Experience with RESTful services, enterprise APIs, microservices architecture, and OOP
• Experience with Linux environments and configuration management tools
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:
• Current TS/SCI clearance (CI Poly a plus)
• Experience with AWS or Azure cloud technologies
• Experience with Kafka, NiFi, Kubernetes, or distributed systems
• Experience with NoSQL databases and search technologies (Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr)
• Familiarity with Agile development tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub Enterprise
• Scripting experience and familiarity with big data platforms

Benefits:
• Salary range: $183,000 – $274,000 per year depending on experience
